Found this on a class blog from Canada.
http://kids.nationalgeographic.com/
The Blog site is really interesting as well, but no room here to go into it, discussions and research on Blogs is going to happen in the training area of the project.

Me again
I have completed the notes and added the resources. The last page is missing on shape, I do not have access to a scanner, I am working from home today, I will fix it tomorrow (done). I thought I would put the notes up anyway as I know Vicki wants them.
You will note I found two websites of no value, however I may have got the wrong information, I will get Vicki to follow these up with Warren and change them if they are wrong.
The other websites referred to are great.

I thought I would put up a quick link Warren provided for us.
I am going to put the full notes from the session and I have all the resources he gave the schools for you to download, soon. Hopefully later today.
This site is where you can get postcards that link picture books and science together, we looked at one during the session. We all thought they were great so go and have a look and see what you think for your school/class. This site is being added to so book mark it for future reference.
Postcard Site
Here is a screen shot of the site.

The next Science VC session is 15 May and the teachers have asked for a focus on the Olympics, which Warren has said he will do, this will be around the sports and the clothing, so get your names into me to book your places.
All comments from participants were positive so come along and see for yourselves.
More on the other things we learnt, soon.

Hello all,
I asked Theresa O’Reilly to write a bit about her study leave last year. She completed her Diploma in ICT through Canterbury University.
I have attached a PDF file with some links (you will need to copy and paste it into a browser because this is a PDF file), one is to a webquest she created and to a global classroom. These are just a couple of the great things she did with students and staff at St Mary’s during that year.
Have a read and leave a comment, if you wish. Theresa is able to respond to any questions you ask her through the blog. Just leave them in the comments section.
Thanks Theresa.
I have asked some other teachers to do the same, they will be put up soon.

If you followed the link I uploaded in the posting below you will go to a website called ‘SlideShare’ you will find slide shows on all topics, some you can download others you can save as a ‘favourite’, if you register, there is no cost, however these one will need to be viewed online.
I would recommend going here if you are looking for some information on a specific topic. Do comment on the slide shows you find of interest as the contributors do respond and appreciate the feedback.

I thought I would copy the link to the powerpoint Derek is referring to in his blog. It highlights some interesting points, if you follow the link on it to the blog entry (slide 6) “Beyond the Three R’s’ and then take a look at ‘ outcomes, for Literacy in Scotland’s new Curriculum for Excellence’ which has just been released you will find some interesting reading as well.
This may be of strong interest to those who are Lead Literacy Teachers.

Do keep looking at Derek’s Blog there is always something of interest on it.
