I am not sure if you are checking our Derek’s Blog, the link is at the bottom of this page, but he refers to this website, which I think is fantastic. It is a stepping search engine to use with children, it could not be simpler.
Take a look for yourself.

A lot of teachers are starting to open the world of blogging up for their students, which is wonderful.
These students are being given opportunities to share their writing in a way that suits todays young people.
Although what you are reading is a blog, the teachers are a using different site for their class blogs.
I have an example blog, which is shown below, that is there just to show teachers what they can do with their blogs.
If you would like to have a look feel free, there is not anything exciting on there but it will show you the sorts of things the teacher will be doing.
The teachers blogs are protected, so you can only see them with their permission.

A lot of schools and teachers are getting into blogging. This ICT tool is great to motivate your students to write and share experiences.
There is a large section in the training area on blogs and we have our own online area to create them. If you would like one for your class I can quickly set it up, I only need a little bit of information to do so. You will be able to access more information on blogging in the training area, which wil be opened up to all lead teachers and Principals next term.
For now I thought you maybe interested in looking at Sonja van den Heuvel’s blog, she is from Lynmore School in Rotorua. She uses a literacy focus for her students interaction and contributions on the Blog.
Anyway have a look and see what you think. Lynmore School

Back again.
It was very hot in Australia and I am pretty tired after such a flying visit. I know, oh dear how sad… if only that was why you guys were tired… very selfish of me, LOL.
I have nearly been to all of the school for at least one visit and have items to work on for each of them, everyone has different needs, which is challenging but exciting.
There are lots of great things happening and a lot of experience and ideas that I will share with you all, so we are all benefiting from the knowledge and skills that are here on the coast.
I will send out passwords after the holidays to go onto the training area. There are sections in here that are on different topics. You will find information on those with in the ‘course’ if someone has asked for information on a specific area then I will put up the resources and
information in these ‘courses. ‘courses’ is a generic title in Moodle, which is not quite what we are doing but I cannot change it. If you have resources on these topics then you will be able to add them to the appropriate ‘course’, this will see the resource grow for others to use. Some people may want to put up theirs hands to provide online support to someone who wants to try something new, for a few weeks, which would be great. I will also start videoing some good practice and put these up as well. These will become a resource you can access anytime anywhere or download for training.
well thats all folks….catch you up again soon B
