Stories online

books.jpg

This site is great, the story is read to you and then there are activities to follow. The only draw back is they are live, so you cannot download them. If the internet is working fine for you then give them a go.

Stories online

On this site you can view the book and then rank it and saved it to your own book shelf.

When you have time have a look at these sights.

Olympic Games

I had a good look around this site, I found the information on all the different sports interesting, you click on the sport logo and it takes you to an animated information section, which is simple to understand and very informative.

Create a Comic Strip

comic.jpg

I found this site which is very simple to use. You can create a comic strip using the images they have provided. What is clever is you can scale the images and over lap them. Simple but fun. This site would make a good addition to your writing programme.

Quick Note

This is just a quick note to say I am back. I am very grateful for being privileged to live in New Zealand after what I have experienced and seen in India. The people are wonderful and so friendly, however there is so much need. Judy and I are hoping we can give at least a little bit to them to help improve the education in the villages, more on this soon.

Trip to India

Well it is almost time to leave. Judy and I will fly to India on Sunday. We will spend the first few days in India in Kolkata, with everything going to plan we will travel by train for 12 hours to Darjeeling. In Darjeeling we will spend a few days working with a school here before we will go up in the mountains to visit with two remote schools. We will also try and get in Nepal to visit a school there.

Our aim is to see where we can help these schools and how we can link the students up with students in New Zealand.

The schools involved so far are St James School in Aranui and the South Westland Cluster Schools. They have a social network site where they will all communicate once all the links are in place.

There has been a lot of support happening to help the kids, St James School has fundraised and they have set up an edible garden which, with the help of Joy Cowley they will be writing a book about. The money from the sale of this book will be given to both St James and a school in Darjeeling.

There has been some lovely contributions of book and letters from Lake Brunner School and St Patricks School. I know the children will really enjoy the books and the letters. So thank you for this.

We would like to say a big thank you to Singapore Airline for their support in giving us extra luggage space for the items we will be taking over for the schools. This is fantastic.

Pearson Publishers has also given St James some blown up books and games for us to take, way to go guys. Brent Frew from Rippa Rugby has also given them some rugby balls.

People have been so supportive it is wonderful and Juday and I thank you all very much for your kindness.

One of the schools in Kolkata is the one below as you can see they are working in very challenging circumstances.

I have set up a blog that we will try and keep updated while we are away.
