Create Interactive Videos

Youtube has the ability to create interactive videos, where the viewer is presented with a number of options to choose from inside the video. Clicking on a selection will then load a video and more options can be presented to the viewer to choose from. The viewer can choose what path to take.

In a classroom situation interactive videos can be used to present a project, a video quiz, adventure story, explaining concepts indepth, demonstrating math equations/explanations, video dictionary, map quests etc…. there are endless uses in the classroom.

ARKive -Images of Life on Earth

ARKive has thousands of wildlife videos, images and fact files can be used in a wide range of science, ICT and literacy projects. ViewPure a great tool for the classroom. It’s a website that eliminates everything else you see on a youtube video page.. from ads, comments to thumbnails of other videos.

You can enter the youtube URL from the ViewPure webpage or add the “Purify” button to your web browser toolbar.

Signed Stories


Signed Stories is a provider of free videos featuring children’s stories accompanied by subtitles and sign language. All of the stories feature someone signing the story (in British Sign Language). In addition to sign language many of the stories also offer subtitles.

The videos on Signed Stories are organized into seven themes. With the exception of the Baby and Toddler section the stories are not categorized by age.

Smarthistory – A Multimedia Art History Book

Smarthistory is a free online alternative to expensive art history textbooks. Smarthistory was developed by art history professors Dr. Beth Harris and Dr. Steven Zucker. Smarthistory features more than just images of notable works of art. Videos lessons, VoiceThread lessons, and audio lessons about eras and themes in art history are what make Smarthistory a valuable resource. Students can browse all of the resources of Smarthistory by artist name, style of work, theme, or time period.
